Hi Christina – all moved in!

Everything made it safely…including wine glasses. Quite a feat, when you consider how far they travelled. Obviously your team did a great job of wrapping. Thank you VERY much for all your support!

Cathy

Best regards

Bernard

Good morning to all

I would like to send you a brief note to be thankful for all the excellent service with my moving to Uruguay. You made me feel that this unpleasant activity is very easy one.

Special mention to Rob, Flavio and Alex. They were so kind and helpful with us.

Best

Isabel

Another reason for insuring your personal belongings

Monday, December 15th, 2014

Even when you have taken all precautions and follow the right steps to get your personal belongs to your new home safe and sound the unimaginable can and does still happen as seen in the attached video clip.

When moving overseas, truck accidents, train derailments, ship and port mishaps are just some of the things that could happen before your container arrives on the other side of the world. It is not mandatory to take valuation coverage for your belongings during a move however it is strongly recommended.

BRYTOR’S CYCLIST EXTRORDINAIRE!

JAY RYAN RIDES AGAIN!

This year, Jay Ryan, Brytor’s  Vice President of Operations and intrepid cyclist starts out his cycling season with two charity rides,  adding the  Canadian Mental Health Association’s  Ride Don’t Hide event  on June 22nd. The Ride Don’t hide website link is below and they have announced that their very first rider registered is  Jay Ryan who  leads the way with donations raised!  http://www.ridedonthide.com/on/ride/peel-region-caledon-hills/.

His first  charity event  of the year is a repeat of last year’s  Becel Heart & Stroke Ride for Heart on Sunday, June 1, 2014 , sponsored by the Heart and Stroke foundation.   His lofty goal is to raise  $2,500 for this very worthy cause.  Jay has a pretty good start already with donations from Brytor International and its suppliers, staff, friends and family. Jay is anxious to meet his fund raising target and hopes that anyone that can spare  a few dollars will go to the Becel Heart & Stroke Ride for Heart website and sponsor him at www.heartandstroke.ca/ride_for_heart

Jay has purchased  new wheels this year;  he says he was looking for a  more serious racing bicycle that will push him to excel. As soon as all of the snow melts here in Toronto, we will get pictures of Jay and his shiny, red machine.

Jay also  hopes to enter his first triathalon in the summer and will begin his running and swimming training soon. Not bad for a guy who will be 42 this year!

New Alliance of 3 Biggest container Shippers

Tuesday, June 18th, 2013

Taken from MM&D magazine online:

COPENHAGEN, Denmark—Danish shipping and oil group AP Moller-Maersk says the world’s three biggest shipping container operators have entered an alliance to reduce fuel consumption and improve service and operations.

Vincent Clerc of the Copenhagen-based company’s shipping unit says MSC Mediterranean Shipping Company SA and CMA CGM of France will form the P3 alliance with Maersk Line.

The alliance will be an independently operated network with 255 vessels on 29 loops and is to start operations next year, depending on regulatory approvals. Maersk stressed the companies will continue to have fully independent sales, marketing and customer service functions, but P3 will establish an independent joint vessel operating centre. By combining their resources, the lines will offer more sailings to more ports of call than they currently do individually.

The P3 alliance will operate a capacity of 2.6 million TEUs between Asia and Europe, across the Pacific Ocean and the Atlantic Ocean. The breakdown is expected to be as follows:

  • Maersk Line will contribute with approximately 42 percent of the capacity (including the new Triple-E ships), of about 1.1 million TEUs.
  • MSC will contribute with approximately 34 percent of the capacity, of about 0.9 million TEUs.
  • CMA CGM will contribute with approximately 24 percent of the capacity or 0.6 million TEUs.

The deal should be finalized by Q4 2013.

Brytor Toronto welcomes student, Boris Hontas

Tuesday, June 4th, 2013

Boris Hontas, a 19 year old student from Bordeaux, France has joined Brytor’s head office in Mississauga for an eight week internship. Boris describes himself as a dynamic, ever-smiling team player. He hopes to improve his English while also learning something of sales and marketing and the workings of an international business.

Boris comes from a moving industry background, having worked summers in his father’s moving company that specializes in intra-France and Morroco relocations.Boris Hontas

We are already impressed with Boris’s willingness to do whatever is asked of him and he is picking up our Moveware computer program quickly. It will certainly be an advantage with our peak season having already started and a heavy workload that will keep him busy.

Boris will head back to France at the end of July to continue his university studies in business management.

PIRACY ON THE HIGH SEAS!

Tuesday, June 4th, 2013

From FIDI Magazine Apr/May 2013 by John Luker

Piracy has its roots in ancient Greece, 2000 years ago, when sea robbers threatened the Greek rade routes and it has continued through time to today. It flourished between 1620 and 1720, as romanticised in the Pirates of the Caribbean film franchise, until we get to the modern era and the highly publicised Somali pirates, who have been very active over the past five years.

In total, worldwide numbers of actual and attempted attacks on ships increased from 263 in 2007 to 439 in 2011. However only 13o were attributed to Somalia, suggesting that while Somali piracy is on the decline, it is still a significant problem in the rest of the world.

There has been considerable internationa resource dedicated to this issue, with approximately three dozen warships from the royal Navy the U.S. Navy, EU countries,  NATO, Russia, China and INdia currently patrolling more than one million square miles of sea.

With the collaborative work being carried out by these international organisations, it is no surprise that reports of piracy attacks have dropped.

Earlier this year, one of Somalia’s most notorious pirate leaders announced his ‘retirement’, a possible indication that the Somali pirates are starting to realize that piracy is perhaps not as lucrative as it once was.

However, reports provided by the International Maritime Bureau show that piracy is a trade plied in many places and where it stops or reduces in one place, it will increase in another. The coast of Nigeria has seen an increasing number of reported attacks, many violent, with pirates striking as far as 120 nautical miles from the coast.

IT’S HARD TO BELIEVE!

Monday, May 6th, 2013

As we move rapidly towards the second half of 2013, the staff at Brytor have started to think about plans for the celebration of our 50th year in business in 2014!  It is an exciting milestone that deserves recognition and we want everyone to know that we will have achieved a longevity that is remarkable

Ironically, many of our staff will have been with Brytor for more than half of those 50 years -certainly as remarkable as our 50th anniversary.  More updates as our year progresses and we move into our 50th anniversary year- 2014!

A Container Load!

Thursday, April 25th, 2013

A LOADED CONTAINER

It is not easy to achieve a container load that looks quite as uniform as this one, but the Brytor operations staff know how to utilize space in the most efficient ways possible. After all, our team leaders have been with Brytor for decades… and only do overseas moving-every day of the week.  With pricing based primarily on volume, you want a crew that loads your shipment  tightly and safely in order to minimize your costs and avoid any damage.

Brytor’s Annual Managers Meeting

Tuesday, April 23rd, 2013

Brytor just completed another successful annual Manager’s Meeting, held every spring at our headquarters in Mississauga, Ontario.

Bringing the key people from all of our branches together to analyze the last year’s performance, brainstorm, reconnect and plan for the year ahead has become an invaluable tradition that strengthens our commitment to our brand and our dedication to quality service.

This year, one of our focal points was Brytor’s social media presence, something that often gets set aside in the fray of doing our day to day business where service, our key commodity, is obviously the  primary point of our existence.

Certainly though, Brytor’s managers are aware that without sharing our knowledge and experience within the social arena we could get lost in the Facebook, Linkedin, Youtube, Website world that we all live in.  That said, we have come out of our meeting determined to make Brytor’s  presence more visible,  bring interesting and pertinent articles to the fore.  We hope to inform, entertain, educate and assist our clients, fellow agents and friends by whatever means at our disposal.  We hope that you will like, comment, and share.  By strengthening our  social media networking, we especially hope that Brytor offers our audience an insight into our world of international moving.
